The following diary entry is shared to provide insight into my personal use of cannabis to alleviate a series of medical and health issues, inclusive of insomnia and loss of appetite.
White Labs Thailand’s Sour Strawberry is a real old school treat. The bud has this sweet and creamy strawberry aroma at first whiff followed by deep and dank skunk and diesel, earth and spice. The flavor is super diesel and real old school skunk, like real old school skunk and super high quality, earthy and then accented nicely with that sweet creamy strawberry for the finish. This is a masterpiece of a bud.
The high starts off engaged, creative, with a tendency towards problem solving and a good down to earthy feel-good euphoric mood. That initial high is pretty heady and when not concentrating this consumer felt a bit trippy and day dreamy, but once engaged the consumer is once more engaged. As the high progressed I found myself slipping off into little naps here and there—but once again was engaged anytime there was something worth concentrating on.
I highly recommend Sour Strawberry to all consumers. The flavors and aromas are right on point, old school skunk, earth and spice accented by that creamy strawberry. The high is utilitarian but still chill enough to relax. Experienced consumers will know they have a gem on their hands—novice consumers will be spoiled and come to their next buds with high expectations. I love this bud.

A short while back I was fortunate enough to get my hands on TEN of the newest White Labs Thailand drops which featured a diverse array of flowers; from buzzy old-school Haze dominants to the newest candy-terp trend setters, I was confident that I was in for a wild ride and naturally, dived into the terp profiles I was most excited for. Now, it’s safe to say I demolished those buds pretty quickly (and reviewed accordingly), which leads me to todays review of SOUR STRAWBERRY (Sour Bubble x Strawberry Cough x Razz x East Coast Sour Diesel, Sativa leaning Hybrid). For full transparency – this isn’t the kind of flower I would generally go for…but this is White Labs. Will they be able to win me over like they did with their Blue Dream? There was only one way to find out.
VISUALS:
SOUR STRAWBERRY is a beautifully formed flower that boasts tight and bright, pastel green buds with faint purple hues and infrequent orange pistils. Visible trichome heads confirm the buds freshness whilst giving it an almost fluffy appearance, the trim is beautiful and on par with all White Labs flower!
NOSE:
The bag smell on SOUR STRAWBERRY produces sharp notes of strawberry, berry and citrus up front, which at first comes off a tad hazy in its tangy sweetness. This is backed up by a pungent, earthy and musky gas which fills out the body of the profile and ultimately rounds off the sharpness of the fruit notes. There’s a hint of pine and a creaminess which compliments the fruitiness and evokes strawberries & cream vibes, but the pronounced diesely dankness that makes up the back-end cannot be ignored.
Notes of citrus are awoken further upon the nug break, bringing with it solid evidence of this buds Sour Diesel lineage as a sharp and heavy fuel smell dramatically lunges forward to dominate. The potency of the fuel increases upon the grind and merges with the zestiness of the citrus and strawberry notes to create a scent worthy of its namesake.
FLAVOUR:
The gas doesn’t quit with this flower! Old school diesel notes really come through on the dry-toke. Citrus-rind and petrol, burnt rubber, pepper and pine are all present. Upon lighting up you are met with a bold and upfront, old school fuel – the fruit notes back off considerably here, only appearing to add further shape and definition to the gas and linger in the mouth upon the exhale. The fruit notes that are there call back to the strawberries & cream notes from the nose, making this flower quite a pleasant and surprisingly dank package experience.
HIGH:
The high is heavy yielding sedative effects, munchies and couch-lock. Get comfortable because you’re in it for the long haul with this one. Despite being a Sativa leaning hybrid this is a real potent Indica high which eventually resulted in an accidental, but very welcome, nap. For these reasons this flower could be amazing for people struggling with sleep.
I would not say this is a social flower by any means and more suited for late night wind-downs or a movie night (at your own risk).
ASH:
The ash on SOUR STRAWBERRY comes clean, the flower burns smooth and even, fully combusting and yielding full flavour. I wouldn’t say it quite reaches the height of White Labs Ice Bath but sits comfortably above their Blue Dream.
VERDICT:
White Labs SOUR STRAWBERRY is bound to appease smokers who have been around the block, almost rewarding fans of Diesel leaning buds for their commitment to the strain by offering a juicy and versatile take on a gassy classic with all the loudness of newer genetics. Do not let the name fool you though – this is a Diesel heavy bud which may not appeal to people searching for that almost candied fruit terp. I feel this is ultimately a testament to White Labs ability as a grower, offering a bud that is widely diverse to other offerings from White Labs such as Swiss Watch and Ice Bath, further solidifying the farms versatility when it comes to producing high quality and eclectic strains.
